Tatry region is famous from specific culture and architecture. Houses are built in characteristic shape and made from wood. “Capital city” of Tatry is Zakopane. Small town, for hundreds of years known as winter holiday center. Being there, one needs to try regional cheese, called Oscypek. It is made of sheep’s milk. The taste is strong, but it gets along very well with regional cuisine.

Region tatrzanski jest znany ze specyficznej kultury i architektury. Domy budowane sa w charakterystycznym ksztalcie, a zrobione sa z drewna. Stolica gor jest Zakopane. Male miasto, lecz od wiekow znane jako zimowe centrum Polski. Bedac tam, kazdy powinien sprobowac Oscypka. Ten ser wyrabiany jest z mleka owczego. Ma ostry smak, co doskonale pasuje do regionalnej kuchni.

South end of Polish border is created by mountains. The highest range is called Tatry with its Polish peak Rysy [2499m]. Other famous mountain is Giewont [1895m]. It is said that its shape looks like sleeping knight. There is Polish legend saying about army of medieval knights sleeping somewhere in Tatra mountains.

Below pictures were taken in Autumn 2006 by my father. Snow covers the highest area for almost whole year.

Poludniowa granice Polski tworza gory. Najwyzsze ich pasmo nazywa sie Tatry, a najwyzszy Polski szczyt Rysy [2499m]. Inna znana gora to Giewont [1895m]. Mowi sie, ze z wygladu przypomina nieco spiacego rycerza. Mit ten wzial sie z legendy o spiacych rycerzach ukrytych gdzies w Tatrach.

Ponizsze zdjecia zostaly zrobione jesienia 2006 roku przez mojego ojca. Przez wieksza czesc roku snieg pokrywa najwyzsze pasma gorskie.
